The Franz-Mehring-Grundschule is a public Primary School for children aged between 6 and 11. Our school is located outside the city centre of Leipzig. It takes you about 10 minutes by tram to the city centre.The school was built in 1972 and completely renovated in 2008/2009, when we also get an extension and a new gym.
The four-year Primary School covers Years 1 to 4. At present there are approximately 400 pupils organized into 15 classes. The children are taught by about 20 teachers.
Additional staff at our school are the secretary, the caretakerand librarians.
Languages
Pupils at our school start learning French in year 1 with one lesson per week. In year 2 they also have one lessons per week. In year 3 and 4 they have four lessons .
That is a special language learning programme offered by our school, which is not compulsory.
In year 3 and 4 children have two lesson English per week.
Our school has Sokrates experiences since 1997.
In the afternoon children can stay at school, were there are offered afternoon acivities provided by extra staff. This kind of care in the afternoon is called „Hort“. Our Hort is named „Sunflower“.
Our school has connections to different associations, which offer a lot of leisure time activities for our children especially in the field of sport and music.
