History of the Hans-Erlwein-Gymnasium

 

Hans Erlwein:

- born on 13th June 1872 in Gmain, Bad Reichenhall

- died on 9th October 1914 in Rethel/Ardennen in a car crash

- studied in Munich                                                                             

- 17th November 1904: Hans Erlwein becomes town planning officer in Dresden

- February 1905: he takes the job as a building construction officer (Simple Present oder Simple Past?)

- in a period of 10 years, he developed 50 building’s

- he was the Chair of the Building Committee

 

Geschichte:

- in 1838 Striesen got its own school, to which 20 children from Gruna also went

- in 1945 the building survived the bombing raids with moderate air pressure damage so that lessons at the 31st elementary school could be resumed

 

- by decision of the City Council in 1992/93, the high school became the 

"11th Gymnasium Dresden-Gruna".

 

  • -        on 06th April 2004 the school was given the name of honour "Hans-Erlwein-Gymnasium Dresden"
  • -        in 2011/12 the renovation of the entire building begins.
  •     alternative quarters in Prohlis as school location for three years
  • -        1st September 2014: return to the actual school building in "Eibenstocker Straße"
